Baked Donut Recipe-Learn under Expert

This recipe for baked donuts at home is simple to follow and doesn't need any yeast or other special ingredients. You can make either vanilla or chocolate icing with this recipe, so you can satisfy your sweet tooth! 

INGREDIENTS 

– 1 ¾ cups all-purpose flour spooned & leveled (220 grams) – ⅔ cup granulated sugar (135 grams) – 1 teaspoon baking powder – ¼ teaspoon baking soda – ¼ teaspoon salt – ¼ teaspoon ground nutmeg – ¾ cup buttermilk (180 ml)

– 1 large egg lightly beaten – ¼ cup unsalted butter melted and slightly cooled (60 grams) – 1 teaspoon pure vanilla extract – 1 cup powdered sugar (120 grams) – 1.5 to 2 tablespoons whole milk (22 to 30 ml) – ¼ teaspoon pure vanilla extract

INSTRUCTIONS

Heat the oven to 350°F (180°C). Use nonstick cooking spray on two 6-count donut pans. Mix flour, sugar, baking powder, soda, salt, and ground nutmeg in a large bowl. Add buttermilk, egg, melted butter, and vanilla to a well in the dry ingredients. Batter is thick; mix just until combined.

Place batter in a large piping bag. Only fill each donut cavity to ⅔ with batter. Get 12 donuts. Without a piping bag, spoon batter into donut holes. Bake donuts 9–12 minutes until toothpick inserted comes out clean.

After 5 minutes, carefully remove the donuts from the pans and cool on a wire rack. Mix powdered sugar, milk, and vanilla in a large bowl until lump-free. If icing is too thin, add powdered sugar. Add ½ teaspoon of milk if icing is too thick.

Half the donut tops iced and hardened on the wire rack.  Whisk milk, vanilla, powdered sugar, and sifted cocoa powder in a large bowl until smooth. Powdered sugar thickens icing. If icing is too thick, add ½ teaspoon milk.

After dipping the tops of the remaining half of the donuts into the icing, transfer them back to the wire rack so that they can cool and the icing can harden.
