Healthier Homemade Nutter Butter Cookies Recipe

– 4 tablespoons salted butter, at room temperature – 1/2 cup creamy peanut butter – 1/4 cup real maple syrup – 2 teaspoons vanilla extract – 1 cup whole wheat pastry flour – 1/4 teaspoon baking powder – 3.2 ounces dark chocolate, melted – Flaky sea salt (optional) FILING – 1/2 cup creamy peanut butter – 3 tablespoons salted butter, at room temperature – 2-3 tablespoons real maple syrup

Warm the oven up to 350 degrees. Cover two baking sheets with foil. In a big bowl, mix the peanut butter, maple syrup, sugar, and butter until the mixture is smooth.

Add the flour and baking powder and mix them in until the dough makes a ball. To loose dough, add two to three tablespoons of water. Add one to two teaspoons of flour if the dough is too wet.

Make dough balls about the size of a tablespoon. Cut each ball in half and then press the halves together. Place the two balls on the baking sheet. Gently press cookies down. A fork can be used to make crosshatches.

Put it in the oven and bake for 9 to 10 minutes. To make the filling, mix together the peanut butter, butter, and maple syrup.

Cover one cookie with an equal amount, then put another cookie between them. Frozen cookies for 10 minutes make them easy to dip.

Spread chocolate on cookies or dip them in it. If you need to, add salt. Chocolate can be eaten right away or left to set in a jar with a lid for 5 days. Have fun!
