Easy Savory French Toast is a delicious twist on French toast. Our batter was flavored with fresh herbs and other savory ingredients. A well-cooked egg with a runny yolk completes this delicious breakfast, brunch, or dinner dish.
Ingredient
– 8 slices of challah bread– 1 cup milk– 6 egg– 2 Tablespoons fresh parsley– 2 teaspoons fresh thyme– ½ teaspoon garlic powder– ½ teaspoon salt– ½ teaspoon black pepper– 3 Tablespoons of vegetable oil– Optional toppings: arugula
Direction
1
Heat a large skillet with mild oil (butter or margarine) on medium.
2
Whisk eggs, milk, parsley, thyme, garlic powder, salt, and freshly ground pepper in a bowl or casserole with a fork.
3
When the oil begins to shimmer, begin to soak the bread in the egg batter before proceeding.
4
Dip the bread one piece at a time. Based on how thick the slices are and how dry the bread is, let each one soak for 10 to 30 seconds.
5
Transfer bread to the skillet when the oil is shimmering and heated. Reduce heat to medium-low. Be careful not to crowd bread slices. Wait to flip until the first side is golden brown.
6
Cook each side for 2–3 minutes until golden brown and crispy. Place the French toasts on a platter.
7
Topping the French toast with arugula, avocado slices, and fried eggs is optional.
