Apple Cake Doughnuts Recipe

These dazzling cinnamon sugar-dipped Apple Cake Doughnuts are simple to make. One of the fastest sweets I've made, they're worth the little work.

Doughnut – 1 ¼ cup all-purpose flour (175 grams) – 2 teaspoons baking powder – 1 teaspoon salt – ½ teaspoon baking soda – 1 teaspoon cinnamon – ½ teaspoon nutmeg – ⅓ cup canola or vegetable oil – 2 large egg – ¾ cup brown sugar (150 grams) – ¾ cup unsweetened applesauce – 2 teaspoons vanilla – ½ cup peeled and shredded apple Cinnamon Sugar Topping – ½ cup granulated sugar (100 grams) – 2 teaspoons cinnamon

Heat the oven to 350°F. Lightly spray two 6-hole dougnut pans with non-stick baking release. You can also spray standard muffin tins. Set aside

Doughnuts Mix flour, baking powder, salt, baking soda, cinnamon, and nutmeg. Set aside.

Combine oil, eggs, brown sugar, applesauce, and vanilla in a mixer. Combine thoroughly. Add apples and stir.

Beat the flour mixture on low until combined. Use almost all the batter to fill doughnut or cupcake tins. Bake 12–15 minutes until a tester comes out clean. Cupcakes take a few minutes longer.

After cooling for a few minutes, place doughnuts on a rack. Cinnamon Sugar Topping Mix cinnamon and sugar. Dip hot doughnuts into mixture.
