These dazzling cinnamon sugar-dipped Apple Cake Doughnuts are simple to make. One of the fastest sweets I've made, they're worth the little work.
INGREDIENTS
Doughnut– 1 ¼ cup all-purpose flour (175 grams)– 2 teaspoons baking powder– 1 teaspoon salt– ½ teaspoon baking soda– 1 teaspoon cinnamon– ½ teaspoon nutmeg– ⅓ cup canola or vegetable oil– 2 large egg– ¾ cup brown sugar (150 grams)– ¾ cup unsweetened applesauce– 2 teaspoons vanilla– ½ cup peeled and shredded appleCinnamon Sugar Topping– ½ cup granulated sugar (100 grams)– 2 teaspoons cinnamon
INSTRUCTIONS
STEP-1
Heat the oven to 350°F. Lightly spray two 6-hole dougnut pans with non-stick baking release. You can also spray standard muffin tins. Set aside
STEP-2
DoughnutsMix flour, baking powder, salt, baking soda, cinnamon, and nutmeg. Set aside.
STEP-3
Combine oil, eggs, brown sugar, applesauce, and vanilla in a mixer. Combine thoroughly.Add apples and stir.
STEP-4
Beat the flour mixture on low until combined.Use almost all the batter to fill doughnut or cupcake tins. Bake 12–15 minutes until a tester comes out clean. Cupcakes take a few minutes longer.
STEP-5
After cooling for a few minutes, place doughnuts on a rack.Cinnamon Sugar ToppingMix cinnamon and sugar.Dip hot doughnuts into mixture.
