How to Make Your Hair Grow Faster and Stronger

Medium Brush Stroke

Growing hair longer or thicker can feel like a waiting game. Hair, the fastest-growing tissue in the body, grows 0.5 to 1.7 centimetres per month, or two to eight inches per year, according to the Trichological Society. Waiting for growth can make it seem slow.

1. Trim frequently.

Long, healthy hair needs trims.Haircuts remove split ends but don't grow hair. Eliminating breakage makes hair appear to grow faster. Breaking split ends reduces hair length, shine, volume, and smoothness.

2. Eat the right diet.

Body and hair products affect long, strong hair. "To promote hair growth, you need to 'feed' the hair from the inside," meats and other protein-rich foods. "Try increasing your protein intake with foods like fish, beans, nuts and whole grains,"

3. Use a hair-healthy vitamin in the morning.

Nutritional supplements can improve a poor diet. Find a multivitamin labelled "for hair, skin and nails."These contain hair-healthy vitamins like biotin, C, and B.For hair health, Good Housekeeping Institute Nutrition Lab deputy director Stefani Sassos recommends these vitamins and minerals.

4. Hydrate more, shampoo less.

Shampooing frequency impacts hair health. Only shampooing two to three times a week lets your natural oils penetrate your hair and hydrate and repair it.The "volumizing" or "thickening." shampoo thickens hair quickly.

5. Stop bleaching.

Platinum hair is chic, but going from dark to light blonde could shorten your hair. Bleach damage to the hair cuticle can cause breakage or split ends.

6. Limit heat styling.

Don't overstyle your hair. If you must use heat, lower the temperature and always use a heat protectant to avoid breakage and frizz.

7. Brush hair regularly.

Tired people may want to go to bed with unbrushed hair, but a few quick strokes can improve hair and scalp health."Use a boar bristle brush to evenly distribute scalp oils to naturally moisturise hair.

8. Take cooler showers and care for your scalp.

Hot showers dry skin and damage hair. "Turn the water temperature down when cleansing," Paves advises, and pamper your scalp. While shampooing, massage with your fingers to de-gunk and increase circulation.

9. Protect hair from harm.

Detangle hair before shampooing because wet hair breaks easily.Water exposure swells and stretches the hair shaft, lifting the shingle-like outer layer. Brushing in that state can break it.

10. Use silk pillowcases.

Changing your pillowcase to a silk one can improve your hair overnight.Silk reduces tangles and breakage in hair, says Mount Sinai NYC assistant clinical professor of dermatology. Less breakage means longer hair.
