Instructions
- Preheat your oven to 175 degrees Celsius (350 degrees Fahrenheit). Pre-grease a casserole dish or baking dish measuring 9 by 13 inches.
- Combine the canned beans that have been drained and rinsed in a large mixing bowl with the ketchup, molasses, brown sugar, mustard, and Worcestershire sauce. To ensure that the beans are completely covered in the sauce, stir them.
- The chopped bacon should be cooked in a skillet over medium heat for approximately five to seven minutes, or until it becomes crispy and leaves behind its fat. You can skip this step if you are not going to be using bacon.
- To the skillet that contains the bacon fat, add the chopped onion and garlic that has been minced (or use one tablespoon of olive oil if you are not using bacon with the fat).
- About three to four minutes into the cooking process, the onion should become translucent and fragrant.
- To the bowl of beans, add the onion mixture and cooked bacon, if you are using or not using bacon. Add some salt and black pepper to taste, and season with salt. Mix all of the ingredients together by stirring them together.
- Spread the bean mixture out in an even layer on the baking dish that has been prepared, and then transfer it to the dish.
- After covering the baking dish with aluminium foil, place it in an oven that has been preheated and bake it for forty-five to sixty minutes, or until the beans are bubbly and hot.
- In order to allow the top to brown slightly, remove the foil during the final fifteen minutes of the baking process.
- The baked beans should be removed from the oven once they are done cooking and allowed to cool for a few minutes before being served.
